Recently I came across a really useful resource I wanted to share with you called Diffit. Diffit can create resources for you instantly and can help you create materials for your classroom with ease! To help understand how to use it, I created a little infographic which I will share below. If you are more of a "show me what it does" kind of person, I can help you with that too!
So, for example, I want to show a video on my favorite soft drink of all time, Diet Coke (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJpiMkv4v3k), but I need something to go along with it. Difft can create summaries, multiple-choice questions, short answer questions, and even open-ended prompts! Check out this example:

I am always a sucker for free curriculum resources. In fact, anytime I here free my ears are perked. Often though the free part comes with a catch. This is not true for Elementary GLOBE. Elementary GLOBE is a resource sponsored by NASA and the National Science Foundation and then further supported by NOAA and the US State Department. Elementary GLOBE provides units on: Each unit provides a book, teacher guide, and student activities. The activities themselves are often priceless resources! If you want to learn more about this resource and see a brief demo of what Elementary GLOBE has to offer, watch my YouTube demo below. To help educators explain the election and educate their younger students, PBS Kids has introduced You Choose. You Choose allows students to explore facts about each of the candidates, view videos about the election process, create their own campaign posters, and even collect trading cards of past presidents.
So this election season be sure to check out You Choose from PBS Kids! The KidsKnowIt Network is like the Jack of All Trades website for education. This 100% free website features educational: games, websites, worksheets, movies, and even music. The subject material ranges from simples math to high school chemistry. One of the best parts of this website for teachers may be the worksheet portion. They currently offer over 4,000 worksheets that are Common Core aligned and also free! Also, be sure to check out my favorite game, Turkey Terminator. There is truly no better way to learn about fractions then to fling pumpkin pies at turkeys! According to Georgia Tech 105 AD is the year most people say paper was invented, but it may have been around as much as 200 years before that! So in honor of paper, lets look at a website that has awesome student interactives just asking to be printed.
ReadWriteThink (http://www.readwritethink.org/) has student interactives that can be used for any subject and grade level. Students could create crossword puzzles, K-W-Ls, story cubes, flip books (my favorite), and more! To give you a jumping off point, please view the link below for a series of projects any student and teacher would love: http://www.one-tab.com/page/SyFXhZGTTU2aAjES6w74bA Please note that I used the OneTab Chrome Extension to share these wonderful links with you. Also, be sure to explore the entire ReadWriteThink website; not only do they have these great projects, but also the lesson plans to go with them! |
